We are excited to announce that the new documentary project we are part of is This Ground We Stand Upon.

This Ground We Stand Upon, set in 1950’s and 60’s Far North Queensland, brings to light a series of vivid incidents that spurred the creation of a unique organisation, the Cairns Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander Advancement League, to challenge the deeply engrained and systemic racism they faced and the historical context underpinning it. The film reveals both the courage and determination of those who stood up, and the enduring legacy of their struggle.

Directed by John Hartley, with Terry O’Shane, Kuku Yalanji community leaders in Far North Queensland and the film team which includes researcher, Paddy Gibson, Production Manager, Lesley Shuttleworth and ourselves as the film production and post production crew.
